CM’s Trophy on football & volleyball

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: The second edition of Chief Minister's Trophy on football and volleyball (men & women) 2014-15 kicked off today for 47-Namsai (ST) assembly constituency at APIL ground.

Chow Enseng Mein, Congress Block President and N.M. Das, EAC Namsai attended the inaugural function.

In the opening football match Nanam Khampti beat Lathaw (men) by 3-1. In women's volleyball GHSS, Namsai defeated Adi Ningroo in straight 3 sets.

Fire claims one

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: A 32 year old woman died this morning following a fire accident at Nirjuli. The woman has been identified as Chello Yakia. Her 14 old daughter was injured in the fire and has been admitted in the State Hospital Naharlagun.

In-charge of the Nirjuli Police Outpost, K Yangfo said that the entire residence was burnt down in the fire. He said that initial investigation points at short circuit as the cause of the fire.

APWWS seeks early creation of APSCW

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) has appealed to the state government for early constitution of the new body of the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW). In its central executive committee meeting held today at its Naharlagun office, the Society stated that even after the last team demitted office three months ago, the new body is yet to be formed.

The Society further urged the government not to make any political appointments to the constitutional body. Its president Gumri Ringu said that appointments of the members and Vice Chairperson and Chairperson must be strictly based on merit and drawn from among those who have a background of working with and for women and girls.

The Society also called for early formation of Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Child Rights. The APSCW currently handles the Commission for Child Rights as well.

Meanwhile, the Society has chalked out its annual action plan for 2015.

Capacity building for KGBV

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: The SSA Rajya Mission has conducted four day’s State Level Capacity Building of KGBV Headmistress, Wardens and Cooks at Dera Natung Government College Itanagar between Jan 14 to 17.

More than 185 participants from 47th KGBV School of 16th Districts participated in 4 day’s training programme.

Earlier, P K Lombi (SPO) SSA Rajya Mission highlighted the aims and objectives of capacity building of KGBV Headmistress, Wardens and Cooks.

In the inaugural function, Opak Gao, State Project Director, SSA advised the participants to try their best and gain maximum benefit from the training programme.

In the programme, classes on health and hygiene, neat and clean kitchen and hostel environments and prevention of food poisoning were given.

In the valedictory function, Dr. P.C. Pandey (Vice Principal) DNG distributed the certificates to the participants and advised the participants to introduce delicious food items at their respective KGBV School.

AAPEDA for withdrawal of notification on suspension of NEIIPP

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: All Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Development Association in a letter to Union Minister, Commerce and Industry, New Delhi appealed for withdraw of recent notification within January 30 next regarding suspension of the further registration of North-Eastern Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (NEIIPP-2007) in North Eastern Region.

The association demanded continuation of the scheme as usual for the greater interest of the people and local entrepreneurs of the region and added that the North Eastern states are very poor in industry sector which need financial and technical supports from the centre for rapid development of small, medium and large scale industries in the region.

The association also said that, if their demand is not fulfilled within the stipulated time, it would take up other possible step to resolve the problems.

Parshuram Kund Mela concludes peacefully

WAKRO, Jan 17: The Parshuram Kund Mela concluded peacefully with around 30,000 pilgrims visiting the site and taking holy dip on Makarsankranti.

Earlier, Parliamentary Secretary for Environment & Forests, Chow Tewa Mein proposed for an alternate route to be developed from the BRTF camp to the helipad in Parshuram kund for easing the heavy traffic flow during the Mela. Mein had also taken stock of other arrangements made by the district administration and made personal contribution in cash for the Mela and medical needs of the pilgrims.

The Mela witnessed active volunteering by govt and nongovernmental activists in traffic management and adequate allied arrangements making the event a successful one. Dr S Nayil, SMO and medical team treated and attended to all pilgrims in need of medical attention. A company of ITBP personal was deployed in addition to a Coy of CRPF, IRBN and civil police. DC Lohit, Dr BM Mishra, lauded all involved for their coordinated efforts for the successful conduct of the Mela. The DC accompanied by Ved Prakash Surya, IPS and CO Dakto Riba, Mela Officer had also taken time to interact with pilgrims which included few foreigners.

Parliamentary Secretary Tatung Jamoh and Sashi Kumar, IFS, PCCF had also visited the pilgrimage site.

National Integration camp at Diyun

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: Universal brotherhood and integrity in diversity is the intellectual and cultural background of the India said, Pailo Mihu, District Youth Coordinator (In charge) Nehru Yuva Kendra Changlang during the six day National Integration Camp organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan at Diyun on Jan 16.

He urged the youths to come under one umbrella to understand, share and exchange their culture, tradition, ethnic value and to create feeling of one people and one nation forgetting and keeping aside differences.

D Gadi, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Diyun urged the youths to work for unity, integrity, non-violence and universal brotherhood.

Aikham Hom Pangyouk, Organizing Secretary, NIC highlighted on the main objectives of NIC camp and appealed the delegates to avoid misconception and regionalism and spread the message of unity in diversity. Delegates from Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Nagaland, Bihar & Arunachal Pradesh put up a very colourful cultural programme during the inaugural function.

Tamen CD Block meeting held

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: The block level coordination meeting of Tamen CD block was held at Raga circuit on Jan 12.

BDO Tassar Daba chairing the meeting highlighted the importance of timely implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the block. Urging the panchayat leaders to cooperate for better implementation of the works, he informed that all MGNREGA works shall be implemented as per the prescribed guidelines of Ministry of Rural Development, GoI.

All the panchayat leaders of the block present in the meeting shared their views for proper implementation of the schemes.

Discrimination in relief amount

Longding, Jan 17: Longding District Students' Union, Pongchau-Wakka Students Union has alleged that compensation amount of Rs 5 Lakhs contributed by the centre though MP Ninong Ering has not been fairly distributed. The Unions said that Congress voters alone were handpicked for relief money.

32 houses were destroyed in Wakka village in April last year.

The alleged that local congress party of Pongchau- Wakka constituency distributed the relief money only to those who are believed to have voted for congress in election leading to violent commotion.

Students’ educational tour held

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: Government Middle School, Sangti, West Kameng District conducted its educational tour to Guwahati for its students recently.

Altogether, 52 students, four teachers and two guardians visited various places at Guwahati and Tezpur during the tour.

Illegal fishing, hunting banned

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: All Tapiaso-Habia Youth Welfare Association (ATHYWA) has unanimously decided to impose blanket ban on illegal fishing, hunting and timber cutting and extraction of other natural resources within the jurisdiction of Tapiaso-Habia panchayat under Sangdupota circle. Violators of the ban order will face stern action as per forest laws, the release said.

Forum demands formation of new board on TAH project

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: The 12th Pakke Kessang Land Affected People’s Forum (12th PKLAPF) has urged the state Govt to constitute a new independent committee to oversee the construction of Trans Arunachal Highway (NH-229) and disbursement of long pending compensation to the project affected villagers.

In a representation to the Chief Minister, the Forum, who claimed to have unearthed the irregularities in construction of TAH (NH-229) and disbursement of compensation to project affected villagers, said that the new committee should be headed by Seijosa (independent) ADC as the jurisdiction of said land acquisition falls under the Seijosa administration. There should be no induction of members from erstwhile compensation disbursement board, it further said.

The Forum also mentioned the PIL No 101/2013 and submission public grievances regarding highway construction to justify its demands.

WSDSU conference cum election concludes

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: The 5th General Conference cum election of West Siang District Students’ Union held at Basar concluded yesterday.

Attending the inaugural day on January 14, PWD Minister Gojen Gadi appealed to the students and public leaders present on the day to be part of the developmental process.

He highlighted his vision for development of Arunachal Pradesh and West Siang District in particular.

AAPSU President Kamta Lapung urged the students to maintain disciplined and follow the noble path shown by the elders and seniors.

On the occasion, the house also observed two minutes silence as mark of respect to AAPSU Martyrs Khoda Dolu, Tobom Bam, Kipa Kache, former AGS of Galo students’ Union Goto Yudik and former Chief Minister and former AAPSU President Jarbom Gamlin.

Lifter Deru creates new national record in U-56 Kg

Yamuna Nagar, Jan 17: Weightlifter Jimjang Deru of Arunachal Pradesh created a new national record by lifting a total of 238 Kgs in the Under 56 Kg category at the 10th Youth National Weightlifting Championship held in Yamuna Nagar, Haryana.

Deru lifted 103 Kgs in Snatch and 135 Kgs in Clean & Jerk to clinch the Gold for the event. He broke his own record set last year at the 9th Youth National Weightlifting Championship held at Guwahati. Deru is the national champion in the Under 56 category and has maintained the title for the past 3 years. He is also holding the title of the Asian Youth Champion, which he had won recently at the Asian Weightlifting Championship in Doha, Qatar.

Meanwhile, another lifter from Arunachal Yukar Tachack clinched the Silver for 62 Kg weight category by lifting a total of 220 Kgs. He lifted 100 Kg in Snatch and 120 Kgs in Clean and Jerk.

Another budding talent from the state, Dampi Umpai bagged the Bronze medal in the Under 56 Kg weight category. Umpai lifted 90 Kgs in Snatch and 114 Kgs in Clean & Jerk to total 204Kgs.

Top to bottom approach in pre-paid energy metering system

Pre-paid project to improve quality of power supply

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: State Cabinet yesterday gave its nod to the power department to go with the pre-paid metering system for the benefit of consumers as well as reduce the Aggregate Technical & Commercial Losses (AT&C). This was informed by Govt spokesperson Bamang Felix in a press meet at the CM’s conference hall here today.

The cabinet in its meeting held with Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on the chair directed the power department that installation of pre-paid metering system should be from top to bottom beginning from Raj Bhawan, Bungalows of Chief Minister, Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, Chairmen, MLAs, and residence of all Commissioners, Secretaries, Councillors, Heads of Departments, heads of offices, Group A & B officers and staffs to all the central and state Govt offices and then commercial and private consumers.

Felix further informed that the State Govt also urged the department to continue awareness campaign involving Councillors, Ward Members and NGOs as the Govt has decided to implement Electricity Act 2003 as per the provisions and norms.

While giving a clarion call to the consumers not to obstruct the Government officials while performing their duties, Felix informed that anyone found doing so will face action as per the law.

“Consumers should not believe in rumours and wrong propaganda by few vested interest persons/organizations and they should contact department officers/officials for any clarifications and misgivings etc.”

Informing that around 1500 pre-paid metering systems have already been installed successfully in the Capital, Felix further disclosed that after installation of the project overall demand for power has been reduced by 1.4 MW. On an average each consumer is reducing load by 1 KW approximately, he added.

He further said “quality of power supply in some sectors have drastically improved where installation of Pre-Paid meters have been done. In F-Sector where installations of Pre-Paid meters have been completed, consumers are expressing happiness over drastic improvement in quality of power supply. Consumers are satisfied with the new system of metering.”

The Govt spokespersons further informed the media that after complete installation of consumer friendly project in Capital Complex, overall demand of the Itanagar Capital Complex is expected to reduce by 50 per cent of its present demand. Moreover, on an average each consumer is found directly or indirectly contributing themselves and is becoming a partner in the development trajectory of the government. Most important benefits of the project are that it will improve the quality of power supply in all the sectors. Load shedding will be avoided and transparency will be maintained.

People can keep their own account on power usage in daily basis, weekly basis and monthly basis.

Apprehension of excessive billing with the present system will be cleared. Pay as you use method similar to that of pre-paid mobile technology.

Elaborating on the objectives of the project Felix said that this pilot project aims to achieve 100 per cent metering in Capital Complex-Urban (Itanagar and Naharlagun) through Pre-Paid and Automatic Meter Reading to prevent/eliminate revenue pilferages, maximize collection and to reduce Aggregate Technical & Commercial Losses (AT&C) losses to a national permissible limit. Metering will also be extended to other towns of Arunachal Pradesh later, he informed.

The State Government has to follow the directives of Arunachal Pradesh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (APSERC) Tariff Order 2014-15, under Section 6.2.7 and 6.2.8, Arunachal Pradesh Supply Code 2013, under Section 5.4 and 5.5.3 and Central Electricity Authority Regulations 2006 under Clause 20, i.e., Adoption of New Technologies.

It is worth mentioning here that AT & C losses of Arunachal Pradesh is above 60 per cent and 30 per cent of Power consumption of Arunachal Pradesh is only in Capital Complex. More than 70 per cent are unmetered which is amounts to low average billing.

DEO holds meet with Political Parties

AALO, Jan 17: The Consultative Committee Meeting with all the Political Parties was held at DC’s?Conference Hall today under the chairmanship of Pige Ligu, District Election Officer which was also attended by all administrative officers of West Siang District.

While briefing the house, the DEO said that model code of conduct has already been enforced with the declaration of bye-election of 27-Loromoba (ST) constituency and notification for the bye-election will be issued on Jan 19.

During the bye-election, EVMs will be used and voter identity card shall be mandatory for identification of voters. He appealed to all the political parties to co-operate with the AERO/ERO for conduct of peaceful and fair election. He also requested all the AERO/ERO to perform the duties with outmost sincerity for conduct of free and fair election.

He said that action will be taken as per established law against any wrong doers to disturb the election process. He also emphasized for opening of separate Bank Account for all the contesting candidates for election expenditure purpose. The Superintendent of Police M. Riba has assured to provide adequate numbers of police personnel to assist the DEO for conduct of peaceful election. He also appealed to all the political parties not to intimidate any one or party which may cause law and order problem during the election.

Two Days Orange festival starts on a musical note

DAMBUK, Jan17: The beautiful Dambuk valley in Lower Dibang Valley came alive today with soulful music and dance to mark the beginning of two days Orange Festival, which got off amidst much fanfare today.

The Orange festival with the theme, ‘poetic in nature’ features arts, music and songs, adventure and photography.

Greeting the people on the festive occasion, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki praised Dambuk, being famous for orange orchards for exporting oranges to Bangladesh as well.

Chief Minister said fund should not be a constraint as recently the state Apex Bank signed an MoU with National Schedule Tribe Financial Corporation wherein the funding agency has agreed to give financial support for promotion of horticulture and agriculture.

On the maiden orange festival, he said that, “Festival should not be means to spend money rather; it should be means to generate income”.

He suggested the Orange festival organisers to continue on a larger platform and make way for Dambuk to market its oranges better.

Responding to the various representations being submitted by the people of Dambuk, he assured to establish offices of Power and PHED.

He also assured to provide fund for Bomjir-Paglam road and further assured that he will take up flood control of Dambuk in the next financial year. Parliamentary Secretary cum Local MLA Gum Tayeng while welcoming the participants to Dambuk, informed that Dambuk remains cut off from the whole world for more than six months. She also added that Orange Festival has been started to show case the rich cultural heritage of the people of Dambuk.

We hope to make this festival self-sustaining, involving the local community in bigger and better, said the local MLA who is also the Chief Patron of the festival.

An American artist Scott Moses Murray and Dayglocrazie, an Assamese band based in Delhi enthralled the audience with their music.

Photography Workshop by Mumbai based Sanjiv Valsan and All Terrain-Vehicle Rides were also the centre of attraction of the day.

Various cultural troupe representing the Adis, Misings and Idus were displayed during the colourful programme.

9 teams vying for APPSU’s New Year Football trophy

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: The New Year football tournament organized by All Papum Poma Students Union (APPSU) was today kicked off at Balijan general ground. All together 9 teams from Balijan, Tarasso and Sangdupota circles are participating in the tournament. Inaugurating the event, former General Secretary of All Nyishi Students Union Arjun Panye urged the participating players to take football as ‘career’ seriously.

“With government implementing 10 percent reservation for sportsperson in the job, the sports have become an important source of employment generation in Arunachal. Also our youth should take inspiration from icon like Mary Kom to achieve success in sports field,” said Arjun Panye. The assistant information and publicity secretary of All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) Challing Yangfo who was also present, appealed all the student communities to refrain from using drug and maintain healthy lifestyle.

Earlier, president of APPSU Teli Tadap informed that main motto of organizing the tournament is to give chance to the budding football player of Papum Poma area to exhibit their talent. He also added that the best players from the tournament will be selected to represent Papum Poma football team in various district and state level tournaments. Former ANSU leader Nangram Pentum was also present on the occasion. The opening match of the tournament was played between TMG XI and Hollongi FC. Displaying brilliant technique, the Hollongi FC beat TMG XI 2-0 in a clinical finish. The final match of the tournament will be held on 26th January to mark the Republic Day celebration.

Govt gives emphasis on sports activities: Dolo

SEPPA, Dec 17: The state Govt has given special emphasis on promotion of sports among the youths, said Pakke Kessang MLA Kameng Dolo while addressing the inaugural function of the Pappu Valley Youth Sports & Cultural competitions at Veo of East Kameng district on December 13.

Informing that the sports has become a big industry in our country, Dolo, who is also principal adviser to CM, expressed hope that the youth of the area would compete at all level of sports activities and bring laurels to the area. “We should learn a lesson from Manipur which produced Boxing icon Mary Kom,” he added. He advised the youth not to waste their time and energies in unwanted activities, rather concentrate in studies and productive activities. He also cautioned the public not to misuse RTI which creates unnecessary disturbances in the developmental process.

Responding to the memorandum, he assured sanction of fund for infrastructure developments of Veo Football ground, landing ground at Pijerang and renovation of 10 KW Micro hydel at Veo.

Pappu Valley Youth Association President Nabro Natung advised the participants to play football in the spirit of sportsmanship.

On December 14, Kameng Dolo convened a Co-ordination meeting with HoDs at Seppa in order to take stock of all the ongoing projects and future developmental plan of all departments for his constituency. The officers present briefed him of the schemes, projects & programme of the central as well as state sponsored schemes. Pre-Myoko Football Tournament

MUFC to take on DLFC in the final

NAHARLAGUN, Jan 17: The Miichi United FC (MUFC) will take on Diti Latii FC (DLFC) in the final of the first Pre-Myoko Football Tournament-2015 to be played at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium tomorrow (Jan 18). Both the camps look confident to be crowned champion.

Earlier, in the first semi-final Miichi United FC (MUFC) defeated Khonkung XI by 7-1. Koj Tajang and Nako Opo of MUFC were on fire as they netted three goals each. With a total of six goals in his name, Koj Tajang is the leading goal scorer in the tournament. Lone goal for Khonkung XI was scored by Mudang Tamer.

In the second semi final, Diti Latii FC (DLFC) trounced Handsome FC 5-0 to book their place in the final. It took DLFC as long as 9 minutes to score their first goal through Millo Tara. The score could have been doubled for DLFC if the Handsome FC goalkeeper had not spectacularly saved the header from Tage Kano in the 19th minute. Mihin Taker scored the second goal for DLFC in the 31st minute just before the break.

The second half saw a flurry of goals from DLFC boys as they tore apart the Handsome FC defense several times. Tage Kano, Millo Tarung and Tage Nabing scored a goal each to make the score 5-0 in favour of DLFC.

Meanwhile, Radhe Mobing, General Secretary, Itanagar Sancha Ajin, who is the chief organizer of the ongoing 1st Pre-Myoko Football Tournament-2015 opined that the tournament has provided a platform for the players to showcase their talent and hoped to continue it in the years to come.
